Fertility Treatment Options
There are a number of ways to treat fertility problems. All require time and persistence. The main treatment options, which are individualised according to diagnosis, are as follows.
Hormone therapy with medication
- When there is a hormone imbalance
- When egg maturation/ovulation is compromised
- When hormonal testicular function is compromised
Artificial insemination
- Reduced sperm function
- Immune reaction to sperm
- Cervix failure
- No discernable cause of infertility
IVF (In-Vitro Fertilisation)
- Loss of tubal function
- Decreased sperm function
- Endometriosis
- No discernable cause of infertility
Microinjection of sperm into the egg
- (intracytoplasmic sperm injection, ICSI)
- followed by embryo transfer into the uterus
- Reduced sperm function
