Cetrotide 0,25mg

Your package of Cetrotide contains everything you need for your daily injection. A prefilled syringe with sterile water, one ampoule filled with dry cetrotide powder, alcohol swabs for the disinfection oft he injection site, a yellow mixing needle, a grey injection needle. Cetrotide can be kept at room temparature, it does not have to be refridgerated.
. Flip the protective plastic cap off the ampoule and remove the cover from the prefilled syringe. Twist the yellow mixing needle on the syringe and remove the needle cover. With the vial on a flat surface, insert the needle of the prefilled syringe straight down through the marked centre circle of the rubber stopper of the vial. Slowly inject the water into the vial. The powder will immediately dissolve in the liquid, to remove any leftover powder sticking to the glass walls, gently swirl, don´t shake. Keeping the needle in the vial, invert the vial and slowly pull back the plunger until the syringe fills with the total contents of the vial. Dont let go of the plunger while removing the needle from the vial. The vacuum in the ampoule would pull the liquid back into the ampoule if you let go. Detach mixing needle and exchange with the grey injection needle. Remove any air bubbles from the liquid before you inject. Hold the syringe in the air with the tip of the needle showing upwards and gently tap it with your finger to let any air bubbles rise to the top. Slowly push the plunger until a few drops of the liquid appears at the needle tip.

Cetrotide is injected under the skin (subcutaneous) of the abdomen. Gently squeeze the skin around the injection site with one hand about handle wide from the navel. With the other hand clean the injection site using a fresh alcohol swab and let the skin air dry for about one minute. Take the syringe into your hand and quickly push the needle in to the skin in a 30° angle. Depress the plunger in a slow steady motion and when all medication is injected count to five until you remove the needle Using a clean alcohol swab apply pressure on the injection site if there is minor bleeding or discharge.

The injection of Cetrotide can lead to skin irritation at the site of injection such as rashes or itching. These irritations normally dissappear in a short time Choose a different site every day, but please apply your daily dosage always at the same time of the day.
