Causes of Infertility in Men

There are just as many causes of infertility in men as there are in women. The most common are associated with an insufficient production of normal and freely mobile sperm. This can have many reasons.

The most important are:

  • Hormonal Imbalances
  • Diabetes
  • Hereditary factors
  • Stress
  • Infections
  • Serious illnesses

Environmental pollution, nicotine and alcohol, injuries and impairment involving the testis can also cause infertility in men.

Low numbers of sperm or restricted sperm functionality can impede fertility. The factors involved here are either genetic or acquired (e.g. by surgery).
